Pioneer House High School is thrilled to announce the grand opening of its brand new Post-16 College, situated adjacent to the main school building. This milestone marks a significant achievement for the school as it expands its offerings to provide enhanced educational opportunities for its students.

The newly constructed college building showcases modern amenities, featuring three spacious classrooms with additional workrooms, an office space, a dedicated meeting room, a fully-equipped kitchen, and a vibrant social area.  The learning environment extends to a well designed outdoor space suitable for socialising and outdoor learning. The development of this facility has been a source of excitement for both students and staff, who have eagerly followed its progress over the past year.

One of the highlights of the construction phase was the creation of a time capsule, curated by students and staff, which has been ceremoniously buried within the walls of the new college building, scheduled for unveiling in 2044.

From September 2024, the Post-16 College will accommodate a full cohort of students, who will benefit from a dynamic educational environment while engaging in work experience placements two to three times per week. This innovative approach aligns with Pioneer House's mission to provide meaningful experiences, knowledge, and learning opportunities that enable students to thrive and succeed beyond education.

The official opening of the college in March 2024, was attended by the Mayor of Manchester, Andy Burnham, joined by the Trust executive team, local businesses, and community members. The event was a celebration of collaboration and progress. Guests were treated to a tour of the college site, guided by enthusiastic students, while enjoying refreshments provided by the talented student baristas at the on-site Strawberry Fox Café. The festivities were accompanied by the vibrant performance of a steel pans band.

"We are immensely proud to unveil our new Post-16 College, a testament to our commitment to providing exceptional educational experiences for our students," remarked Adele Cox, Headteacher. "This development represents a significant milestone in our commitment to building a community of lifelong learners who are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in an ever-evolving world."
